Andrew Land is a multi-instrumentalist, producer and composer, born in Yorkshire and currently based in the Midlands, UK.
Classically trained through his youth, Andrew initially moved away from his classical training to focus on self-taught more contemporary music, before ultimately combining the two to form the modern classical, ambient, electronic works heard today.
Debut single, Mediation, was released in December 2020, and is taken from forthcoming album, Relevant Matters, due early 2021. Invoking the likes of Ólafur Arnalds, Jon Hopkins and Janus Rasmussen, Land's sound straddles a Venn diagram where ambient, electronic and neo-classical music meet, bringing through elements of each without ever totally resting in one single genre.
Working alone, Land has crafted his sound from many hours of experimentation with both analogue and digital instruments. His tracks often embody the ethos of the ambient genre, while rarely being truly ambient, the presence of a beat often precluding strict assignment to this genre. Similarly his use of piano and strings is often not strictly neo-classical, with the ambient and electronic elements always tugging the sound back across the dividing lines between a single genre.
2021 promises to be a big year for Land, with forthcoming singles and debut album already slated for release early in the year, and a growing catalogue of work being constantly being prepared to follow this up and keep momentum about this exciting new artist growing.
